Rockport is a prime location for fishing, with abundant opportunities for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. The area is home to several species of fish, including redfish, trout, flounder and snook. Visitors can even take guided fishing trips or rent boats to explore the waters on their own.

The calm waters of the bays and estuaries surrounding Rockport make it an excellent place for kayaking and paddleboarding. You can rent kayaks and paddleboards from several local outfitters and take guided tours to explore the area's unique ecosystem and wildlife.
Rockport is known as the "birding capital of Texas" and offers plenty of opportunities for birdwatching. The Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is a popular spot to see the endangered whooping crane, along with other bird species. The Rockport-Fulton area also has several birding trails and parks, including the Connie Hagar Cottage Sanctuary.
